The Concrete Cat

The concrete cat

-Dorthi Charles

Description of the poem:-

This is the poem of a cat. The poem draws the picture of the cat on the paper. The picture is drawn with words, but not sentences. The word cat doesn’t appear, but the other words are the names of the body of a cat, for example: - eye, mouth, paw and whisker. Other words are added to put the cat in a place, for example: - dish and letterbox. These tell us the cat is a pet and not a wild cat. This is a new style of representing something with the help of words not sentences and its description.

Permutation and Combination (Exercise 1.3)

A boy puts his hand into a bag which contains 10 differently coloured marbles and brings out 3. How many different results are possible? Solution :  3 marbles can be choosen from 10 marbles in,                 C(10, 3) = 10 ! 7 ! .3 ! = 10 ∗ 9 ∗ 8 3 ∗ 2 ∗ 1 = 120 ways.   Find the number of ways in which a student can select 5 courses out of 8 courses. If 3 courses are compulsory, in how many ways can the selections be made? Solution : The student can be select 5 courses out of 8 courses in,                 C(8, 5) = 8 ...

Physics: Simple Harmonic Motion - SHM

Simple Harmonic Motion(SHM) What is Periodic motion? The motion which repeats itself after equal intervals of time is called periodic motion . For example: the motion of planets and satellites, vibration of springs, motion of pendulum, motion of different hands in watch etc. What is Simple Harmonic Motion? The periodic motion in which particle moves to and fro (back and forth) such that the acceleration of the particle is directly proportional to the displacement from mean position and directed towards the mean position is called simple harmonic motion. i.e. for SHM, a ∝ y ( where y is the displacement from mean position) or, a = −ky ..........................(i) (Where, k is proportionality constant. Negative sign shows that the acceleration opposes the displacement from mean position.) SHM in terms of uniform circular motion(Characteristics of SHM): Equation of SHM: Consider a particle moving in a circular orbit having centre at O and radius r with uniform angular velocity ω. Let P...

Acoustic Phenomena || Physics Grade XII

Acoustic Phenomena: The branch of physics which deals with the process of production, transmission and reception of sound  is called acoustics. Pressure Amplitude:  Sound wave is a longitudinal wave. It propagates in a medium in the form of compression and  rarefaction i.e. variation in pressure takes place in the medium during the propagation of sound. So,  sound wave or longitudinal wave is also called a pressure wave. The maximum change in pressure in  the medium during the propagation of longitudinal wave is called pressure amplitude. Expression for Pressure amplitude: Consider a wave propagating through air along positive x-direction. The displacement of the vibrating layer of air can be expressed as; y = asin(𝜔𝑡 − 𝑘𝑥) ……………………….( 1) (where a = displacement amplitude, 𝜔 = angular frequency and k = wave vector or propagation constant.) Consider an infinitely small cylindrical vibrating layer of air of length ∆𝑥 and cross-section area ‘A’. Let the left...
